Meet Our MDO Family

The Mother's Day Out Ministry staff brings more than 65 years of combined experience in early childhood education and ministry. Through loving relationships and meaningful experiences, we share God's love in ways children can understand while supporting their physical, mental, social, emotional and spiritual growth.

Mrs. Michelle

MRS. MICHELLE

Director

Michelle oversees the Mother's Day Out Preschool office, where she serves as the Director of both Children's Ministries at DuBois Lakeside Church and the Mother's Day Out Preschool.

Something about me: My husband and I have been married for 29 years. We have 3 children, 1 dog and 3 cats. I love the beach and being outdoors, walking or riding bikes.

How has God worked in my life? God took a sinner like me and gave me a new chance at life through this job here at Lakeside Church. I was a single, teenage mom who knew the Lord but never had a true relationship with Him until I began working at Mother's Day Out. It was then that I was introduced to this "relationship thing." Wow, I was missing out on something that truly changed my life.

Something you don't know about me: My favorite TV show is Naked and Afraid, lol. I would NEVER try it, but I love the challenge as well as seeing others take a tough time and rise above the challenge to better themselves!

Mrs. Sue

Assistant Director

Sue plays a key role in the Mother's Day Out Preschool office, serving as the Assistant Director and supporting the program's daily operations.

Something about me: My husband, Tim, and I have been married for 26 years. We have been blessed with two children, Matthew and Emma, and two furry family members, our dogs, Wrigley and Max. I have been working at MDO for 20 years.

How has God worked in my life? God has shown His presence in my life many times, and when I was in high school, I was asked to be a lector/reader in my church. I stepped way out of my comfort zone (speaking in front of people and drawing attention to myself), and I have been proclaiming God's word in Mass for over 30 years.

Something you don't know about me: Nothing means more to me than my love for God, my Catholic faith, and my love for my whole family (dogs included).

Twos

Something about me: I teach in the toddler room. I've been married to my wonderful husband for 11 years, and we have 3 amazing kids that keep me very busy! I am very silly and love to dance and sing with my students! What job can you dress up in costumes for every holiday? I have just started learning about Muay Thai.

How has God worked in my life? God has worked His way in guiding me here when I didn't have passion or direction.

Something you don't know about me: My grandmother taught Sunday school here, my parents were married here, and so was I. My mother also taught in my room many years ago. I'm so excited to meet you and know it will be a fun year of learning and exploring!

Twos

Something about me: I live with my husband, Jordan, and our two beautiful kids, Emma and Bowen. I have a pup, Ruger, who is eight years old and loves attention! We love to go camping any chance we get! As long as we are together, that is all we need.

How has God worked in my life? Almost a year ago, I lost my job due to it closing. I was devastated! I believe God opened a door for me to cross paths with MDO and offering me a job! Now I belong to this amazing family I get to share my days with!

Something you don't know about me: I have a cosmetology license. I did hair for ten plus years before I started working in childcare! If I could live anywhere, it would be the beach! I love the sun, sand, and ocean!

Threes

Something about me: I was born and raised in Clarion. My husband John and I have been married for 38 years. We have been truly blessed with two daughters, Jocelyn and Ashley, two great sons-in-law, and five grandchildren, all of whom are the light of our lives!

How has God worked in my life? I have been teaching at MDO for 23 years and have loved watching the children learn and grow to love Jesus!

Something you don't know about me: I've had my motorcycle license since I was 16. I also received my cosmetology license from the DuBois Academy of Cosmetology after high school.

Fours

Something about me: I've grown up in the Reynoldsville/DuBois area. My husband and I met at DuBois Business College. We've been married for eight years and are blessed with two boys, Garrett and Shane. My family is so important to me and we've been very blessed by being at Lakeside Church.

How has God worked in my life? I believe God brought my family to Lakeside Church for a reason. He's got a plan and we have to listen and trust His nudges. I am so excited that He brought me to MDO.

Something you don't know about me: I have an Associates in Specialized Business degree with my clinical medical assistant certification. I worked in healthcare for eight years. Through life's twists and turns, I've changed jobs for what my family needs. I worked in childcare for three years and now I'm so happy to be here at MDO!

 

Mrs. Susan

MRS. SUSAN

Pre-K

Something about me: I have been teaching since 1998. I graduated from Penn State University with a B.A. in Special Education. I married Jake on September 2, 2000, and have two wonderful sons, Gavin and Garrett.

How has God worked in my life? I've always had religion in my life through my parents, but found the love of God once I had my own children and began working with others at MDO.

Something you don't know about me: I've always wanted to work with babies or children. I am fortunate to teach Pre-K, which is my favorite age group.

Mrs. Tammy

MRS. TAMMY

Pre-K

Something about me: I have taught Pre-K for over 20 years. I married my high school sweetheart over 32 years ago. God blessed us with two children, our son CJ and our daughter Kenzie. I also have a golden retriever, Bella, who I adore. I treat the children who enter my classroom as if they were my own. Family has always carried huge importance in my life.

How has God worked in my life? My faith in God is what helped my family and me through my two battles with cancer.

Something you don't know about me: I have survived cancer twice and have now been cancer-free for almost 20 years.

Mrs. Shawna

MRS. SHAWNA

Pre-K

Something about me: I am a single mom with four amazing children! I am blessed to have joined MDO this past summer. This is my first year teaching Pre-K.

How has God worked in my life? In 2023, my daughter had urgent brain surgery. Six weeks later I had my son who spent many months in the hospital for testing, surgery and feeding tube placement. God helped me to stay strong through it all.

Something you don't know about me: Besides being a Pre-K teacher, I am a trained caregiver to my son and have lots of experience with children!

MRS. PENNY

Teacher Aide

Something about me: I am married and live with my husband and daughter in DuBois. I have lived in the area my entire life.

How has God worked in my life? Everything is His timing. I learned this when we were blessed with our daughter, Grace, through adoption.

Something you don't know about me: I love to travel!
